The new Soji Solar Housing will fit both current and older models but features a much brighter LED and easy to change battery compartment.

For install -

Remove three screws (requires removing battery cover to access one of the screws)
Unplug LED side wire connection from circuit board
Install Unit in Lantern Shade
Plug LED wide wire connection back into circuit board
Put two sections back together and install three screws
Replace battery cover

Our Solar Lantern LED's are rated for for 10,000 hours so they should last for many years without issues. Our rechargeable batteries are also replaceable. However, all items do have a lifespan and if your lantern stops working after the 1 year warranty period, you can purchase a replacement solar housing for your lantern.

These are easy to replace. The Tyvek lantern lasts a long time so it is wonderful that these housings can be replaced. Also, the new housings are brighter than the former ones which is great.

Too bright and the on-off switch is terrible

This new top housing replacement is much brighter than the originals in my other four white Soji lanterns so I stuck with the original housing and made some hanger adjustments. BUT the new, soft on-off switch is really awful: not positive, no audible 'click', will not stay in the 'On' position without a great deal of fussing with it. A poor substitute for something that was simple and worked.

Update March 19: Allsop sent me two of the older style housings that I prefer, at no cost for the housings or for shipping. Now all my lanterns glow at the same intensity. That's terrific, responsive customer service.
